Diesel Fuel System Priming After Running Dry

This is the step most fuel delivery services skip — and why many drivers still cannot restart after receiving fuel. When a diesel engine runs completely dry, air enters the fuel lines and injectors. Simply adding fuel is not enough — the fuel system must be bled and primed before the engine will restart.

Air Lock Warning: Cranking a diesel engine with air in the fuel system without priming can cause injector damage and starter motor burnout. Do not keep cranking if the engine does not start after running dry — call us and we handle the priming process correctly.

Fuel system priming is included in every dry-out delivery we make, at no extra charge. Most engines restart within 15–20 minutes of priming. We also service job site equipment — diesel generators, skid steers, excavators and other construction equipment that has run dry.
